'I used to dream about the day when people would give up on crypto' - Solana Diaries #5

Hello everyone, this is 🎅.sol and I'm excited to bring you another compelling conversation from the Solana Diaries. Today, we have a guest who began investing at the young age of 15, found his way into crypto, and never looked back. He has experienced the highs and lows of this dynamic market, and his journey is filled with lessons and insights that we all can learn from. Please welcome, our guest who has not only carved a niche for himself in the Solana space, but also hosts events that bridge the virtual and the real world. 🎅: Hello Jords! I’m so happy to have you! I’m a long time follower and it means a lot to have such an influential person share their story with me. So, tell us how did you get into this space? What made you stick around?

Jords: I’ve been investing since I was about 15 and trying to trade on my dad’s account with money I made working weekends. Naturally as a teenager it was my job to make a lot and then give it all back on penny stocks, which I obliged to. In 2020 I was fortunate enough to have time and some liquid capital to throw around and saw the opportunity after the market drop to throw it into stocks. Originally I had envisioned this capital sitting in index funds but quickly found myself delving down the risk curve until inevitably ending up at crypto, to which I never left again. If you’re active in crypto and have a platform, you are never more than a few feet away from a good opportunity and that’s simply not true elsewhere, so I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else.

🎅: What’s your proudest win?

J: Honestly I think my proudest win was hosting the BOOGLE Breakpoint part in late 2022. Breakpoint was the first time I was able to shake the hands of the people who had supported me for so long and the event was just a really cool moment where this crazy internet journey of mine felt really tangible and special. Something I’ll never forget and I’m really looking forward to the next one.

🎅: Biggest ‘facepalm’ moment or regret?

J: Of course with all the highs of the bull market there are some regrets, I try not to spend too much time thinking about them but I round tripped some pretty crazy dollar values on Azuki and Mindfolk that I’d certainly take back if I could. The good news is I don’t think it’ll happen again, but who knows.

🎅: What’s the most exciting thing [in crypto or beyond] right now? Spill the tea.

J: It might sound simple but I think the most exciting thing in crypto right now is that people once again think it’s a scam and even crypto-enjoyers have significant doubts that the bottom is in and underexposed. I used to dream about the day when people would give up on crypto and coins were down crazy amounts but I genuinely believed we wouldn’t see another bear market like 18-19’ and therefore the upside opportunity might not have been as high; but we got it and that’s really exciting for me.

🎅: What are you building? Why does it matter to you?

J: I continue to focus most of my time on all things BOOGLE. It might sound ridiculous to say given it’s such a small group of people, but I believe helping BOOGLE win is helping Solana win. Solana having the cheapest fees on the market is a blessing and a curse, lower barrier to entry is a fantastic thing but whether fortunately or unfortunately we need premium assets to be taken seriously from a lot of perspectives. I see BOOGLE as an onboarding mechanism for serious brands to come to Solana in the near and distant future, that journey starts soon.

🎅: As you look ahead, what personal goals are you chasing?

J: This is a tricky question, for me I genuinely believe I’m living my best life right now and am the happiest I’ve ever been. My goal is to continue to think that each and every day for the rest of the days I’m fortunate enough to be around.
